iCAN Best Choreographer Award Criteria

Description:

This award will be given to the best Indian American Male or Female Choreographer within Chicago / Midwest Area.

The nominated choreographer must be a full time (weekly) staff member at the studio/dance school. They may NOT be a guest artist or someone who does not teach regular weekly classes.

The winning Choreographer and/or Studio/Dance School Owner will be invited on stage to accept the award!

Eligibility:
  • Must be 13 years or older,  a person/group of Indian origin or associated with Indian community directly by providing significant contribution.
  • He/she have innovative, excellent or exceptional composition and choreography.
  • May be from any field of dance and in any medium (stage, film, video)
  • Who has performed an outstanding service to dance education as a teacher in a studio, school, college or university; a mentor, advocate or researcher; a dance education specialist working with an organization or studio.
Nomination Criteria:
  • Nominations may be from any dance style/genre/studio.
  • Nominations may be for a specific performance that was choreography by the nominee.
  • Nominees may work in a company or be an independent artist.
  • Have earned numerous certificates and recognition from different events
  • Nominee has earned specific degree in area of dance and choreography
Selection Criteria:

Nominee Selection will depend on the following factors:-

  • He/She should be a full time teaching dancer or a staff member at a school
  • Popularity amongst the students, parents and community at large
  • Nominations may be for a specific performance that was choreography by the nominee.
  • Nominees may work in a company or be an independent artist.
  • Have earned numerous certificates and recognition from different events
  • Nominee has earned specific degree in area of dance and choreography
